Every song comes with a free page
Pages you print at home and finish at the kitchen table. Not a sample pack, and not free for a fortnight. Make an account and the sheet for every episode is yours, without giving anybody a card. Extra pages, for the weeks when one is not enough, are $2.99 each and stay in your library.
What they are
One page, one thing to learn, ten quiet minutes
Every printable comes from a song. They sing it in the morning, then they see the same letter or the same number on the page in the afternoon, and the two halves meet.
Trace and write
The letter, big and hollow, with a dotted line down the middle of it. The same letter smaller underneath, four times, for when the hand is ready.
Colour it in
A picture from the song with plenty of white in it, drawn in thick lines so a fat crayon still lands inside them.
Cut and paste
Shapes and letters to cut out with round nosed scissors and stick where they belong. Slow work, and good for the fingers.
Count and match
Numbers up to ten, counted, then matched to the right number of things on the page.
Name the part
Head, shoulders, knees, elbows, fingers, labelled and matched, so the words go with the pointing.
The verse card
The verse that goes with the song, sized for the fridge door, so it is in front of them all week without anybody having to teach it.
This is early days. There is one episode published and the pages that go with it, and the rest are being drawn. Better that you know that before you make an account than after.
Who they are for
Two to seven, and the same page grows with them
A two year old and a six year old can sit at the same table with the same sheet and both have something to do. That is on purpose, because most houses have more than one child in them.
Just turned two
Colouring and pointing. The page is really an excuse to say the words again while the song is still in their head.
Three and four
Tracing, cutting, matching. This is where the letters and the numbers start going in properly.
Five to seven
Writing the letter without the dots, spelling the word out, reading the verse aloud themselves.
How to print them
Any home printer, ordinary paper
Each printable is a PDF. Open it, press print, and it comes out the way it was drawn. Nothing needs to be resized and nothing has to be bought.
- Ordinary paper from the drawer. Nothing needs card or a special sheet.
- Letter or A4, both fit. Print at actual size rather than fit to page, or the tracing lines end up too small for a small hand.
- Black and white is fine. The colouring pages are drawn for it, and the colour goes on with crayons anyway.
- One page per printable, so nothing gets abandoned halfway.
No printer at home? The library sits at a print shop just as well, and one page at a time keeps that cheap.
Where the library lives
The printables themselves sit behind sign in, because a download has to belong to an account. Once you are in, they are all on one screen and you print straight from there.
